At Recoy our goal is to accelerate the energy transition and help overcome it’s largest hurdle: how to integrate cheap, but highly variable solar and wind energy production into a reliable energy system?
We like to think out-of-the box and develop smart energy solutions that support our customers to reduce their energy costs and maximize the value of their energy flexibility. We develop software that allows flexible assets such as electrical buses, e-trucks, MW-scale electric boilers and stationary batteries to be controlled in a smart way by reacting to fluctuations in the electricity markets or predictions of the production of solar and wind energy. This enables energy-intensive companies to save costs by using energy when prices are low or even negative and by making better use of and expanding the existing energy flexibility. As a result, we help to keep the electricity grid in balance and sustainable energy sources such as solar and wind energy are better integrated into the energy system. We are currently operating and further developing our ‘Real-Time Optimization Platform’, a cloud-based solution that will be key in accomplishing our goals. With this platform we control a portfolio of energy assets such as charging stations, stationary batteries and electrode boilers in real-time. By using forecasting models, trading algorithms and sophisticated optimization techniques we operate these assets to minimize the energy costs for our customers.

Senior Software Engineer .NET core
About the job
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can help build the platform, using modern cloud concepts that will allow scaling in a cost-effective way. We try to keep things lean and simple, and leverage on the capabilities of the cloud such as serverless functions and database as a service.
You will work together daily with the product owner, algorithm engineers, software engineers and energy consultants, to help decide on technical and functional decisions for the platform. We have a small team with a strong focus and a high pace of development.
The core tools and technologies that we currently use are:
- .NET Core
- AWS suite: EventBridge, Lambda, RDS (SQL Server)
- Visual Studio Code
- Git (Trunk Based Development)
We offer you a full-time job (0.8 to 1.0 FTE), working partly from home, and partly in our Amsterdam office. You would become part of a start-up adventure, and work with highly motivated, energetic, and experienced colleagues.
You are a curious-minded individual, eager to learn and share ideas. You have excellent analytical skills and take pride in developing high quality code. Your background would ideally cover:
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field
- 5 years or more working experience as a C# developer
- Experience with event-driven, serverless cloud architecture
- Experience with test-driven development
- Nice to have: experience in algorithmic trading / high-frequency trading
- Nice to have: experience with (low-code) UI development
- Experience in consultancy and/or R&D projects is considered a plus
